EZ Screen Solves Disposal Dilemma For Immaculate Power Sweeping

EZ-Screen 500“Over the past few years, all the dumpster companies started taking trash to transfer station to be sorted and recycled. That’s a problem for sweeping companies because there’s a s much sand as debris in the sweepings and the litter control dumpster companies won’t take it.” says Derek Grieco, owner of Immaculate Power Sweeping, headquartered in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Grieco’s family owned business has been sweeping local parking lots for eighteen years and currently services a client base of over 50 customers including dozen shopping centers, nine major malls, all the Home Depots, most of the Walmarts, and several major chain stores. His fleet of equipment maintains vast expanses of pavement, collecting mountains of sand, litter and debris seven nights a week. Landfills accept the ‘mixed waste’, but only at a premium cost. Grieco had to find a solution to the disposal dilemma.

Several months ago Grieco purchased an EZ Screen from Argus Industrial Company. Now when the nightly loads of sweepings are brought in, they’re dumped on the ground, stockpiled for a week, then screened. Recyclables are loaded into dumpsters and picked up to be recycled at the transfer station, and the sand is given away as fill — with free delivery. “I’d seen difference screens around,” says Grieco, “The EZ Screen price was reasonable for me. We’re not a construction company so we don’t have a big loader. I have a bobcat skid steer. Most of the other screen around were much to large.” The EZ Screen fit right into the Immaculate Power Sweepiing fleet which includes four Schwartz 3471 Litter Control Sweepers, a sweeper for the Bobcat, a mobile City Sweeper — which does all the sand clean up, and a six-wheel dump truck.

By using the EZ Screen Grieco has cut his disposal costs in half.

“The sweepers leave the shop empty every night and come back to dump their loads on the ground. We tarp the pile for a week. The day before the dumpster company comes we screen the material. It’s about 84 yards and takes about three to four hours using the Bobcat and the EZ Screen with a 5mm screen,” explains Grieco. The on-site dumpsters are loaded with the Bobcat and are picked up by Pinard Waste Containers. By using the Ez Screen, Grieco has cut his dispoals costs in half, saving him thousands of dollars every month. “The EZ Screen totally solved the problem,” concludes Grieco. “Now everything is recycled.”
